Nikolay Mihaylov was part of the breakaway of the day in French one-day race, Classic Sud Ardèche (1.1)
Info: February 25th, Guilherand-Granges – Guilherand-Granges, 209km
“Riders in orange” were very active early on. First it was Michał Paluta, who tried to go clear, but his move was neutralized. Few minutes later Nikolay Mihaylov launched an attack and this time he managed to create a gap. He was joined in his efforts by Hubert Dupont (AG2R La Mondiale), Romain Le Roux (Armée de Terre), Loïc Chetout (Cofidis), Andrea Vendrame (Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec). Halfway through the stage also Gatis Smukulis (Delko Marseille-Provence KTM) found his way to the breakaway, creating the 6-man leading group.
The escape established the advantage of 4:35, which was controlled by FDJ.
35 kilometers from the finish the break started to split. Dupont, Chetout and Vendrame attacked leaving other attackers, including Mihaylov, behind.
With 20 kilometers to go all the escapes were back in the bunch, which was very active late in the race. Attacks were coming from everywhere ripping the group apart. It came down to sprint from a shattered peloton and it was won by Mauro Finetto (Delko Marseille Provence KTM). Italian outsprinted Androni Giocattoli – Sidermec duo, Mattia Cattaneo and Francisco Gavazzi.
Adrian Kurek was CCC Sprandi Polkowice top finisher, taking 53rd.
