Patryk Stosz led the peloton across the line in Kowary, to take 6th place in stage 3 of Bałtyk – Karkonosze Tour, which saw another successful breakaway.
Info: May 18th, Kożuchów – Kowary, 164,5km
With flat and windy first part of the stage, racing was very stressful and chaotic early on. The peloton would split in few pieces and eventually a 5-man group broke clear from the first bunch. For some time it was chased by counterattacking group which included Patryk Stosz.
Cooperation among the chasers was not going well as they were caught by the field with around 40km to go. Confusion in the pack about who takes the responsibility of pursuing the attackers, worked in escapees’ favor and for the second time in this race a breakaway held on until the finish.
Winner of the prologue, Philipp Walsleben (P&S Team Thüringen) pulled away from his fellow companions in the stage’s finale to claim another victory. Sergey Luchshenko (Astana City) finished second and Richard Larsen (Ryska Posten) was third, taking over the yellow jersey.
Patryk Stosz arrived in 6th place, as he led the field across the line. The pack arrived 2:37 back.
