Alan Banaszek finished 6th in the Polish 1.2 UCI race, Memoriał Andrzeja Trochanowskiego, which was taken by Alois Kankovsky.
Info: May 1st, Baboszewo-Baboszewo, 168,8km
Course: flat, eight 21-kilometer laps
Despite few attempts to go away, the breakaway of the day didn’t include CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders. Paweł Charucki, Dominik Oborski, Paweł Cieślik, Bartosz Warchoł, Szymon Krawczyk, Oleksandr Prevar were able to make it in the escape though, gaining 2-minute lead.
“Orange squad”, which sent out 5-man lineup to this event, was controlling the pace in the bunch, working for its leader, Alan Banaszek. Thanks to their effort, the escape was brought back in with around 70km remaining. Strong pace in the field caused the group to split and 23-man leading pack emerged in the front. Alan Banaszek and Mateusz Taciak were both in it, but later the latter got dropped because of hard work him and his teammates did earlier in the race.
Banaszek was representing CCC Sprandi Polkowice in the sprint, taking 6th place. Alois Kankovsky (Elkov – Author Cycling Team) sprinted to victory beating Grzegorz Stępniak (Wibatech 7r Fuji) and Eryk Latoń (Hurom).
