Info: Stage 3, May 7th, Głogów – Polkowice, 130,8km
The final stage started off as usually, with series of attacks. It resulted into forming 5-man breakaway, which included Piotr Brożyna. He was joined by Kamil Gradek (One Pro Cycling), Christopher Hatz (Team Lotto – Kern Haus), Bartosz Warchoł (Hurom) and Adam Stachowiak (Voster). They built up almost 2-minute gap, controlled by Tirol Cycling Team and Wibatech 4r Fuji.
Hatz was first one to get dropped from the break and the rest of escapees, including Brożyna, were brought back in on the final 25-kilometer lap around Polkowice, with 9km to go.
CCC Sprandi Polkowice set their “orange train” in the finale, positioning Alan Banaszek. He finished off their superb lead out taking an impressive win. Banaszek bested Sylwester Janiszewski (Wibatech 7r Fuji) and Filippo Fortin (Tirol Cycling Team).
Everything went according to the plan. We took the lead in the bunch with 3km remaining. Wibatech 7r Fuji was trying to thwart our strategy, but we were strong enough to outpace them. The lead out was perfect and all I had to do was to finish off my teammates work. I started my sprint quite early, but I was able to hold on and take the win. – Alan Banaszek said afterwards. – We can be satisfied with how we performed in this race. We’re going home with stage victory, three top 3 places and victory in teams classification. Our goal was to win the entire race, but 2nd place overall claimed by Leszek Pluciński is also something we should be happy about.
Marek Rutkiewicz finished the stage in the bunch securing the final win. Emanuel Piaskowy rounded out the GC podium.
