Bergamasca: Marek Rutkiewicz’s active ride.

The cyclist of the team of Colnago-CSF Inox , Sacha Modolo, became for the second time the winner of stage 3 of the Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda by Bergamasca. He beat his club mate Gianluca Brambilla and Luca Mazzanti from FarneseVini – Neri. During that stage Marek Rutkiewicz (CCC Polsat Polkowice) rode very actively.

Stage 3 of the race led along the roads around Alzano Lombardo and along its route, 162 kilometres long there was quite a strenuous uphill stretch to Colle Gallo. Right after the start of the cyclists, at the front of the peloton a break-away formed in which the following rode: Bernardo Colex Tepoz (Amore & Vita), Alessandro De Marchi (Androni Giocatolli – CIPI), Federico Rocchetti (De Rosa – Ceramica Flaminia), Ermanno Capelli (Team Vorarlberg) and Tyler Magner (Team Type 1). In the 140th kilometre of the route the break-away was eliminated.

When the peloton started to negotiate the uphill stretch for Colle Gallo Marek Rutkiewicz attacked. Two cyclists followed him, but Marek reached the top of the mountain as the first one, with 40 seconds of advantage. In the peloton the team of the leader started to work very hard and 5 kilometres before the finishing line „Rutek” got absorbed into the peloton. The teams of sprint cyclists started fighting for the stage win.

Sacha Modolo turned out to be the best one for the second day in a row; this time he defeated Gianluca Brambilla. The third place was taken by Luca Mazzanti (Farnese Vini-Neri Sottoli).
