Bergamaska: Stage 2 for the Italians.

An Italian Mattia Gavazzi, representing the team of Colnago CSF, after a finish from the peleton won the second stage of “Bergamasca”. He defeated his compatriots: Roberto Ferrariego from De Rosa – Stac Plastic and Alberto Loddo from Androni Giocattoli. The highest classified Polish racer was Sylwester Janiszewski (CCC Polsat Polkowice) who was the 19the.

Right after the start in Dalmine, two racers broke away from the peleton: an Italian Giairo Ermeti (De Rosa – Stac Plastic) and Michaił Antonow (Itera – Katusha). They quickly gained advantage over the peleton and for almost 130 km they leaded the racers. Their action was eliminated 13 km before the finishing line and the finish from the peleton decided about the victory which was won by Matnia Gavazzi.

After two stages the Italian Michele Scarponi (Androni Giocattoli) is still the leader of the race. Tomasz Marczyński (CCC Polsat Polkowice) is the 15th.
