Weather was the key factor in the prologue of Tour de Hongrie, which saw Paweł Bernas take 7th place in the short time trial.
Info: August 14th, Siófok – Siófok, 3,5km (ITT)
Course: flat, twisty
First riders covered the 3,5km course in relatively good weather, but after around 20 minutes of competition, it started to rain. Paweł Bernas made it before heavy pour and set very good result, 4:38, riding only 5 seconds slower than Patrick Schelling, who was sitting in the hot seat.
Also top climber of CCC Sprandi Polkowice, Leszek Pluciński recorded a solid time, as he was only 16s off the pace. Adrian Kurek and Kamil Małecki went as fast, but in much worse conditions. They put on great performance and had it not rained, they would have been in the contention for the win.
At the end of the day it was Schelling who took the win, while Bernas finished in 7th place.
