Volta a Catalunya, and then the race in Sobótka, in front of Polish fans, opening the cycling season in Poland. This is what Błażej Janiaczyk’s immediate plans of starts looks like. Błażej writes about preparations for those starts in his cycling blog.
– I have spent the last two weeks in Poland. The leisure time is over, it’s time to race again. From 21 March I am starting the stage race in Spain – Volta a Catalunya. For sure that race does not belong to easy ones. A lot of mountains along the route and a high altitude will help me to add something to build up a better form for this season. I do not have any big ambitions for that race. I would like to do the racing at ease still, but it depends on the sports managers and their tactical ideas for Catalonia.
– I have made a good use of the time spent in Poland. The temperature was 10-15 degrees lower for the Spanish standard, so at first my training did not exceed three hours and thirty minutes. At the last weekend it was 15 degrees near Jelenia Góra, which I took advantage of during 5 hours long trainings on the hills. At the end of the cycle they really made themselves felt.
– So far in Poland there haven’t been good conditions for training behind a car. I think, though, that in April I will make up for it, because I have a lot to do in this training element. After the return from Spain we are going to race in Sobótka (3 April). Later a lot may change in our calendar, because new races may still come.
