Łukasz Bodnar (CCC Polsat Polkowice) became the winner of the Ślężański Mnich race, that officially opened the cycling season in Poland, and at the same time started the competition of cyclists within the BGŻ ProLiga 2011 cycle. At the finishing line in Sobótka Łukasz Bodnar defeated his team-mates: Tomasz Smoleń and Tomasz Kiendyś.
As becomes the beginning of the cycling season at the starting line in Sobótka there were over 800 cyclists representing all age categories. In the elite race, for which a route of 120 km was appointed (10 rounds 12 km each) about 150 cyclists, including the U-23 category,
As expected before, the race from the very beginning was dictated by the cyclists of the CCC Polsat Polkowice team, that controlled the course of events all the time.
During the third round a group of 3 cyclists rode out of the peloton, joined by another three racers, and a break-away was formed by: the present champion of Poland Jacek Morajko, Łukasz Bodnar and Bartek Matysiak (all of them from CCC Polsat Polkowice) and Krzysztof Jeżowski (Bank BGŻ), Michał Podlaski and Grzegorz Haba (Aktio Group Mostostal Puławy). The break-away group gained a little advantage over the peloton, however, they continued riding in the lead of the peloton in the next laps. Only during the eighth lap, the peloton in which the teams of BDC Banaszek Team and BGZ Team worked hard, managed to eliminate the break-away. It did not last long, because another attack came from the peloton, and among the attacking ones there were five from the ‘orange’ team. Two laps before the end in the lead, with several seconds of advantage there were: Kiendyś, Bodnar, Morajko, Matysiak, Witecki (CCC Polsat Polkowice) and two cyclists of Aktio Group Mostostal Puławy: Michał Podlaski and Grzegorz Haba.
In the final metres Łukasz Bodnar turned out to be the fastest racer, overtaking his team mates Tomasz Smoleń and Tomasz Kiendyś. The fourth place was taken by Michał Podlaski from the team of Aktio Group Mostostal Puławy.
