Eryk Latoń took 12th place on stage 1 of Carpathian Race. Alexander Wachter (Tirol Cycling Team) claimed the win after the sprint from a 8-man group.
The 120km stage was filled with breakaway attempts. Patryk Stosz was very active early on. He was involved in many moves and grabbed 7 points in the mountains classifciation. Thanks to that he put on the KOM leader jersey.
The decisive attack happened 20km form the finish, but unfortunately none of the “riders in orange” managed to get into the 8-man escape. The Polish rider, Piotr Konwa (Polish National Team), and the GC leader, Jan Brockhoff (AWT-GreenWay) were both present in the leading group.
It arrived all the way to the line and Alexander Wachter (Tirol Cycling Team) was the fastest in the sprint. He defeated Tim Ariesen (Cyclingteam Jo Piels) and Brockhoff, who lost the overall lead. The jersey was taken from him by the stage winner. Eryk Latoń was the top finisher of CCC Sprandi Polkowice – 12th place.
