Patryk Stosz was the top finisher of CCC Sprandi Polkowice on stage 2 of Carpathian Race and took 23rd. Piotr Brożyna is the highest GC rider – in 11the.
Just like stage 1, also the second day of racing saw lots of attacks. Throughout 110 km of riding, form Niedzieca to Jabłonka, few groups were in the lead and the biggest recorded gap was at 1:30. CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders were not able to get into one of the escapes.
The decisive move came with 20 kilometers to go and was made by Dries van Gestel (Lotto Soudal U23), Silvio Herklotz (Team Stolting) and Alvaro Cuadros (AWT Greenway). Despite a solid chase led by Tomasz Brozyna’s riders, the trio managed to survive to the very end. Van Gestel picked up the win, ahead of Herklotz and Cuadros, who became the new leader of the race.
Patryk Stosz arrived in the main group, in 23rd place, 18 seconds back and lost the King of the Mountain jersey (to Michael Kukrle). Jakub Kaczmarek and Piotr Brożyna were also present in the bunch, while the latter remained his high GC standing – 11th. Eryk Latoń and Michał Paluta lost over 4 minutes on that stage.
