31 March this year the 40th edition of the Settimana Ciclista Lombarda race by Bergamasca begins. For the first time three Polish professional teams will take part in this race: CCC Polsat Polkowice, Mróz ActiveJet and Aktio Group Mostostal Puławy. The team of CCC will comprise: Dariusz Batek, Łukasz Bodnar, Sylwester Janiszewski, Tomasz Marczyński, Tomasz Repiński, Adam Sznitko and Kamil Zieliński.
At the start of this 6-stage race there will be 193 cyclists from 25 cycling teams, and among them there will be a lot of famous racers. In the contest for the victory there will be such significant names as among others: Michele Scarponi (Androni Giocattoli – Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni), Emanuele Sella (Carmiooro NGC), Riccardo Ricco (Ceramica Flaminia), as well as Poles from foreign teams: Przemysław Niemiec, Bartosz Huzarski and Michał Gołaś. One of the contenders for the victory is also Tomasz Marczyński , who has recently shown that he is in top form.
The race will start with a prologue – individual time trial. The racers will have a 6,6 km distance to cover, which will lead the to the Colle Gallo rise with the gain in altitude of 429 metres. Afterwards the racers will do five stages, 3 of which are hard mountain stages, and among them one has a finish line on the hilltop.
