As the sporting director of the team, Piotr Wadecki, has informed, the CCC Polsat Polkowice team has received an invitation to participate in the “Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia” race.
After the riders’ return from the training camp in the Spanish Lloret de Mar, an official invitation was delivered to the management of the team to participate in the race organized by the Murcia region, which this year is going to take place on 3 to 4 March. “Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia” (category 2.1) is a very important race in the UCI calendar, organized by the Spaniards for 32 years. Due to a shortage of support means the race this year is going to consist of only two stages, including an individual time trial along the streets of Murcia. Despite the shortening of the race (previously the race consisted of 5 stages), the organizers have received over 20 entries from the leading teams of the world cycling. Such teams have filed their entries as, among others, the Movistar team with Alejandro Valverde returning to racing after a period of being suspended, Euskaltel-Euskadi with Samuel Sanchez, Katiusha with Denis Menchov as well as Rabobank, where Robert Gesink will be the leader.
The invitation to the „Vuelta Murcia” race is a great distinction for the team of CCC Polsat Polkowice – said Piotr Wadecki. In spite of the fact that this year we are only a continental team, we have been given an opportunity to start among the best riders of the world. It shows that we are still perceived well by the organizers of the races in Spain, as a well-organized and solid team. We showed it during the races in the last season. I must add, that last year, at the beginning of the cycling season we started in Spain at the following races: Volta Algarve, Clasica Almeria (Bartek Matysiak’s 5th place) and Volta a Catalunya, where despite the first starts, we marked well our presence, fighting for the best positions. I am glad that we are starting this cycling season with a significant, prestigious race.
At present the cyclist are having a ten-day break, and they are staying at homes, to leave for a training camp in Lloret de Mar at the turn of February and March, after which the line-up selected by director Piotr Wadecki will participate in the first start in the season of 2012 – the „Vuelta Murcia 2012” race.
