On Sunday 18 March the team of CCC Polsat Polkowice is going to take part in a classic cycle race that is going to be held along a route around the town of Tous in central France.
The classic cycle race La Roue Tourangelle (cat. 1.2 UCI) will be held along a route of the total length of 192 km, leading along roads around the town of Tours. The race will start in Vernou whereas the finish will be held on the streets of Tours. The riders will have quite a difficult route to cover, which is in fact quite hilly all the way long. There will be several quite stiff, but relatively short uphill stretches. The rivalry might be made difficult by the wind, which is quite common in this region at this time of the year.
At the starting line of the race there will be 19 cycling teams, most of them continental ones, as well as the professional Europcar Team with the last year’s winner of the classic race, David Veilleux. In the race also teams will take part from France, Belgium, England, Switzerland, Russia and to teams from Poland – CCC Polsat Polkowice and BGŻ Team.
As the sporting director, Robert Krajewski, has informed the team of CCC Polsat Polkowice will ride in the following composition: Paweł Charucki, Piotr Gawroński, Tomasz Kiendyś, Nikolay Mihaylov and Kamil Zieliński.
We are entering the race with a bit reduced lineup – added Robert Krajewski. Eight riders have prepared themselves for the race, unfortunately Sylwester Janiszewski, who had been in the lineup for the race, has had a knee injury, and two other riders: Bartek Matysiak and Mateusz Taciak are complaining about a minor cold. Therefore we are going to start in the race in a team of five.
After the start in France the riders are returning to Benidorm (Spain) where until 20 March they are going to stay at a training camp. After it, part of the team will participate in the stage race in Portugal, Volta ao Alentejo (cat.2.2), which takes place from 22 to 25 March this year.
