CCC Sprandi Polkowice wrapped their first training camp of 2018 season, in Calpe.
We’re very happy with our preseason preparation. We paid attention to every detail, so our riders had perfect environment to improve – Piotr Wadecki, sport director of CCC Sprandi Polkowice explains.
In December we carried out tests and we optimized position on the bike, on the velodrome in Pruszków and at the Warsaw wind tunnel facility. The riders also went through other various tests with our physiotherapist and team doctor.
During the training camp in Calpe, outside of pure cycling training, our guys also worked with physiotherapist on core and stretching exercises. There were also held meetings with dietitian and psychologist. The camp was also a good opportunity for new riders to gel in with the squad.
We are confident, that we took full advantage of our time spent in Calpe and that we are ready to kick off the season.
First training camp of 2018 season came to an end on January 15th. After 10 days of mental rest at home, riders will return to Calpe for another 2 weeks.
On January 31st part of the squad will inaugurate the season with 5-day stage event, Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. They will compete against other 21 teams (11 of them are part of UCI World Tour). The race includes 30-kilometer team time trial (Stage 3) as well as mountain top finish to Canteras (5 km; 7,8%) on Stage 4. CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders did a recon of both of these stages while training in Calpe.
The lineup for that event will be announced later on.
