After solid performance in Murcia and Almeria, CCC Sprandi Polkowice will compete in another Spanish event – stage race Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista Del Sol.
-The race in Andalusia seems to be the hardest among all the races we have in our calendar in the first two months of the season. Former Tour de France winners, like Contador and Froome, will be on the start line so we can be sure that the level of racing will be extremely high. In addition to that the route is very demanding with lots of climbing and uphill finishes – Piotr Wadecki, sporting director of CCC Sprandi Polkowice said. – Last races proved that the riders who made the 7-man roster for Ruta del Sol are in good shape, but we still need to work on the way we play out the tactical battle on the final kilometers – he added.
5 riders who will take part in the Vuelta a Andalucia have participated also in the Ciclista a Murcia i Clasica de Almeria last weekend – Grega Bole, Maciej Paterski, Łukasz Owsian, Adrian Honkisz and Branislau Samoilau. In Murcia Paterski was 6th. In Almeria he finished 11th and Bole took 8th.
Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista Del Sol is a 6-stage 5-day event. It opens with a relatively flat stage with the undulating finale and the short individual time trial. The next day a stage with a cat.3 hill with 6km to the line will be held. Stage 3 and 4 are perfect for typical climbers, since they both end with an uphill finish. On the last day the riders will tackle one more hilly ending, but this time the final ascent will be much shorter.
