After receiving two “wild card” invitations to Italian UCI World Tour events – Tirreno-Adriatico and Milan-Sanremo, CCC Sprandi Polkowice has been invited by the organizers, RCS Sport, to its another race. The “orange squad” will take part in Strade Bianche (March 5th, 1.HC).
Strade Bianche is one of the most exciting one-day races in the first part of the season. It goes through the beautiful region of Tuskany, on a white, gravel roads. In fact, the name “strade bianche” means in Italian “white streets”.
It will be the first time for the Polkowice-based team to compete in this relatively young event. So far only 9 editions has been held.
18 teams will line-up this year at the start. 12 of them are part of UCI World Tour and 6 have Professional Continental status. There is 176 kilometers to cover, 53 of them are on the gravel roads. which will appear in 9 sectors. The course also features numerous short, but punchy hills and the finish on Piazza del Campo in Siena.
