CCC Sprandi Polkowice is getting ready for the 2015 season in Calpe

CCC Sprandi Polkowice helds its first training camp in the 2015 season in Calpe. Most of the riders arrived to Spain on the 12th of January. After 10 days the squad will travel to Mallorca, when they will train until the Challenge Mallorca – the series of one-day races (29.01-1.02).

– In Calpe our riders are continuing preparation which they’ve started in November. The beginning of this season will be very intense for our team, since we’ll start racing at the end of January. We have also many races in our February schedule and we need to show up in a decent form. We will not concentrate on building the base, but we will add more power and speed drills to our trainings. Our riders were working out in the off season by themselves, some of them went to Canary Islands or Calpe in December to get into the right shape, so they should be ready – Piotr Wadecki, directeur sportif of CCC Sprandi Polkowice

– Every day, after the training ride everybody does the 45-60-minute core stability exercises, under the eye of a specialized coach. We also work with the osteopath who makes sure that our riders are not in any pain and he minimizes the risk of injury Piotr Wadecki adds.

The riders were equipped with new bikes and the training camp will be an opportunity to test them and make necessary adjustments. The new riders will also have a chance to integrate and get to know the team.

First races in 2015 season

CCC Sprandi Polkowice will open the season at the Trofeo Santanyi-SesSalines-Campos (29.01), which is the first race of Challenge Mallorca series. “Riders in orange” will take part in all of other races held on the Spanish island – Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana (30.01), Trofeo Alcúdia-Can Picafort-Playa de Muro (31.01) and Trofeo Palma (1.02) – all of them are 1.1 races. Part of the team will travel to France, to participate in Grand Prix la Marseillaise (1.02 – 1.1 UCI) and later on in the stage race Etoile de Besseges (4-8.02). It runs almost parallel to Dubai Tour (4-7.02 –2.HC) where the team will be present as well.

In February there are next three Spanish races in the schedule – Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia (14.02 – 1.1), Clasica de Almeria (15.02 – 1.1), Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista Del Sol (18.02-22.02 – 2.1) and one French, Tour Cycliste International du Haut Var-matin (21-22.02 – 2.1).

Preparation of the U23 riders

Riders from U23 category who train under the wings of Tomasz Brozyna, will stay in Poland in Szklarska Poreba. They will fly to Calpe on the 6nd of February and will stay there for 2 weeks.

– The training camp in Szklarska Poreba will be divided into two 5-day microcycles – 4 days of intense trainings and 1 day of an easy one. We will focus on the general-development exercises, with cross country skiing, running and cycling. These are very young riders so it’s crucial to work on strengthening all parts of their body. We want to build a solid base prior the training camp in Calpe where we will concentrate on specialized trainings on bikes – said Tomasz Brozyna, sporting director of the U23 squad.
