After very intense and successful beginning of the year on the international roads, CCC Sprandi Polkowice will inaugurate the Polish season, with the race in Sobótka.
With every year, we have more international races in our calendar, but competing in our country, in front of the Polish fans is always something special. All of our riders have a lot of racing kilometers in their legs, they know the lap in Sobótka very well, so we have only one goal for that day – to win. It’s hard to talk about the leaders for this event. Racing in Poland has its own specific character and we will have to adjust our strategy to the current situation on the course. The most important thing is to ride aggressively and always have at least one representative in the breakaway – Piotr Wadecki, team’s DS said.
All of Polish riders from the “orange team” will participate in “Ślężański Mnich”, except for Sylwester Szmyd, who lives abroad and Michał Paluta and Patry Stosz, who will be racing for the Polish National Team U23 in the Nations Cup. Therefore Piotr Brożyna, Adrian Honkisz, Jakub Kaczmarek, Tomasz Kiendyś, Adrian Kurek, Eryk Latoń, Kamil Małecki, Jarosław Marycz, Bartłomiej Matysiak, Łukasz Owsian, Maciej Paterski, Leszek Pluciński, Marek Rutkiewicz, Grzegorz Stępniak and Mateusz Taciak will be present at the start line.
„Ślężański Mnich” – Memoriał Romana Ręgorowicza is 119 kilometers long and consists of seven 17km laps around Ślęża Mountain.
Due to intense racing program in the first part of the season the team will not take part in the “Boxmet Dzierżoniów” criterium, where Tomasz Kiendyś claimed the win last year. It was the first victory for the team in 2014. The second one came the next day, when Maciej Paterski took the solo win in Sobótka. In addition to that, Bartłomiej Matysiak was 2nd.
