The 2017 cycling season is in full swing, but CCC Sprandi Polkowice decided to make another addition to the roster. The team acquired young German rider, Jonas Koch, who signed a 1-year deal.
Jonas Koch has proven in the previous years that he has big talent and he should strengthen our team. He can sprint well, is capable of finishing high in the one-day events, but also showed that he can do well in the stage races with undulating profile – Piotr Wadecki, DS of CCC Sprandi Polkowice explained. – This signing is important for us from a marketing standpoint too, since our sponsor, CCC, is expanding on the German market.
The 23-year old rider spent 2016 season in another Polish team, Verva ActiveJet. As a part of this squad he achieved one of his biggest results in his career so far, taking 4th in the general classification of Tour des Fjords. In total, he finished four times in the top 10 on the stages, which resulted in 3rd place in the points classification. Few weeks after that race he claimed 11th in the demanding Sparkassen Münsterland Giro (1.HC), held on his home soil.
2015 season was also quite successful for Koch. He won one of the stages and points classification at the most prestigious U23 stage race – Tour de l”Avenir. He secured that victory after a solo move on an undulating route.
The German rider from Schwäbisch Hall has also few good performances in the Polish races under his belt. He won youth classification in both Tour of Malopolska and Course Cycliste de Solidarnosc et des Champions Olympiques, among others.
Despite no contract in the first two months of 2017 season, he has already inaugurated his season. He took part in the series of races in Mallorca, and finished 9th in Trofeo Palma.
