Six-man roster headed to South America to start off their 2018 season. They will take part in Colombian stage race, Colombia Oro y Paz (6-11.02, 2.1).
The event will consists of two parts – first three stages will suit sprinters and the remaining three will feature mountain top finishes. Altitude may play a role in the competition as most of racing will take place at over 1000m above sea level.
We will approach this race with no pressure, take it as a good opportunity to find race pace and gel the team together. There will be many South American teams and teams which have taken part in Vuelta a San Juan Internacional, at the start. They’ve had a chance to adjust to new time zone, weather and altitude. We arrived in Colombia 4 days prior the event and we will take that time to acclimatize for those conditions – Piotr Wadecki, sporting director of CCC Sprandi Polkowice explains.
It will be the first edition of Colombia Oro y Paz and 4 strong World Tour teams will partake in the inaugural race. Nairo Quintana, Rigoberto Uran, Sergio Henao, Fernando Gaviria and Julian Alaphilippe are among those expected to race in Colombia.
All the stages will take place in the Colombian morning and noon hours, thus after taking time difference into account, they will end at around 18-19 Polish time.
