The preparation for Amstel Gold Race has entered the decisive phase. CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders will test their form for the last time in De Brabantse Pijl – La Flèche Brabançonne (April 12th, 1.HC).
The Belgian event is held in typical for Benelux countries terrain. Thus, there are multiple bergs (26 to be exact), twisty roads and some cobblestone sections which await the riders. They will start from Leuven and after covering 197 kilometers will finish in Schavei. The final straight rises gently, so it suits powerful riders, who still have something left in the tank for the finale. Last 23 kilometers of racing run on a circuit, so the peloton will cross the finish line twice.
Highly undulating course should shatter the field and exclude sprinters from contesting the race, as it favors classic riders.
Two CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders, who claimed top 25 places last year, are part of this year’s lineup – Simone Ponzi took 19th and Maciej Paterski 24th. Also Jan Tratnik, who has been presenting great form lately (solo attack in Volta Limburg Classic), will battle for the solid result.
5 times (including Sobótka) Frantisek Sisr finished inside top 15 this season and will try to add to it in Belgium. Michał Paluta, Adrian Kurek, Jonas Koch and Jakub Kaczmarek are always dangerous for their rivals, when riding in a breakaway.
You can find all the details regarding the course on the race’s website (start – 12:30, finish – 17:30). The event will be broadcast live on Eurosport 1 (from 15:30).
