CCC Sprandi Polkowice continues its Italian campaign, by taking part in two one-day races – Memorial Marco Pantani and GP Industria & Commercio di Prato.
The race which commemorates one of the best climbers in cycling history, will be held near his home town, Cesena. The finish will be located in Cesenatico, by the Adriatic Sea, in Emilia-Romania region and the start in Riccione. The riders will be climbing three times in Montevecchio (max. 15%). The final 40 kilometers are flat, so the bunch sprint finish is the most possible scenario. This is how the race ended in the previous years.
In 2011, on a slightly harder route, Davide Rebellin took 2nd. Last year, Grega Bole was also 2nd and Maciej Paterski finished 8th. From that trio, Rebellin and Bole will participate in this year’s edition. Former will be trying to break away uphill and the latter will be looking for his chances in a brunch sprint.
Italian has also two victories in GP Industria & Commercio di Prato (which will be played out next day) under his belt (2001, 2003). Due to hilly course he has an opportunity to deliver good result also in 2015. The course is divided in two parts – first consists of six laps with climb in Carmignano, and second, consist also of six laps, with short, but steep hill to Montemurlo – Via della Rocca. From the summit to the finish is only 16 kilometers, so the bunch will have to push the pace in the finale to catch the attackers.
