After two-week break from competition CCC Sprandi Polkowice is returning to racing. The “orange squad” will take part in two Polish stage races with UCI 2.2 category – Podlasie Tour and Mazovia Tour.
Podlasie Tour consists of a short prologue and two stages which will most likely end with a bunch sprint. This is why we are lining up sprinters such as Christian Delle Stelle, who showcased good form in Sibiu Tour and Grzegorz Stepniak. Also strong time trialists will participate in this event – Adrian Kurek, Stefan Schumacher, Tomasz Kiendyś and Jarosław Marycz, for whom it will be first UCI race after the injury – Piotr Wadecki, sporting director of CCC Sprandi Polkowice explains.
Slightly modified roster will take on the Mazovia Tour, which will be held couple days after the Podlasie Tour. Kurek and Schumacher will be replaced by the youngsters – Eryk Latoń and Patryk Stosz. – This race has also kicks off with a short prologue. It will be followed by flat stages, which are tailored to sprinters. Last year we won the opening team time trial and Jarosław Marycz took the overall win. This time there is no TTT in the race program so to win the general classification one has to be aggressive, careful and attentive in the cross winds and effective in the bunch sprint finishes. Often the GC is decided here by seconds, so it’s important to fight also at the intermediate sprints – ha added.
Podlasie Tour makes its debut in the cycling calendar. It will be held in three towns – Czyżew, where the ITT will take place, Wysokie Mazowieckie and Zabrów, where start and finish of stage 1 and 2 will be located. The road races run on the circuits, with a categorized hill, which will be tackled multiple times.
58th Mazovia Tour is a 5-day event. It will start with a prologue next to the horse racing track in Służewiec. In the next days it will visit Warszawa-Wesoła, Ciechanów, Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, Zwoleń and Kozienice. It’s an unique race since it requires great skills in riding in echelons, in the cross winds.
