8 “riders in orange” will compete in the upcoming jubilee, 50th edition of Szlakiem Grodów Piastowskich race (cat.2.2, 6-9 of May).
This year the race seems to be very open – there is no individual time trial, so it’s crucial to ride aggressively on first three, hilly stages. Especially the third one looks hard, with six cat. 1 climbs. The core of the team has raced in Tour of Turkey, where they performed very well and were close from bringing the podium overall place for Davide Rebellin all the way to Istanbul. For our team, Szlakiem Grodów Piastowskich is very important event, since the headquarter of our sponsor is located near the race route. That’s why we want to present ourselves in a best possible way – Piotr Wadecki, sporting director of the team said.
All of the stages of the 4-day race are held on the circuit, around 4 different cities – Świdnica, Polkowice, Dzierżoniów and Legnica. On the first two, cat.2 climb is located which, will be tackled 8 times on stage 1 and 6 times on stage 2. Third stage will see ascents to Przełecz Waliborska and Srebrna Góra (both cat. 1 climbs), which will be climbed 3 times each – in total 6 times.
