CCC Sprandi Polkowice to World Tour race, Cyclassics Hamburg

One week after the wrap of Tour de Pologne, similar lineup of CCC Sprandi Polkowice will take on another World Tour event, Cyclassics Hamburg (1.WT, 21.08).

The only two changes comparing to Tour de Pologne roster is Marko Kump, who will replace injured Michal Schlegel (broken collarbone) and Jonas Koch, who will sub for another climber, Paweł Cieślik. Slovenian sprinted to 8th in last year’s edition, so is considered as one of the contenders for the top spots, while Koch, who’ll be racing on his home soil, will want to showcase himself to his fellow fans.

The course in Hamburg suits sprinters, so also Paweł Franczak should be in the mix. Łukasz Owsian, Michał Paluta, Jan Tratnik and Kamil Gradek will try to use good form, built for the Polish Tour, and are expected to race aggressively in the breakaways or lead out their main sprinter in the finale.

216-kilometer route is undulating, with three 32-kilometer laps in the second part of the race. That circuit includes few short but steep climbs and KOM at Waseberg. Despite some terrain difficulties, in the past, everything would most commonly be decided in a field sprint.

Cyclassics Hamburg will be broadcast live on Eurosport Player and Eurosport 2.
