CCC Sprandi Polkowice will return to the Tour de Suisse in 2015 season. “Riders in orange” received a wildcard invitation to this event for the second time in the row.
Tour de Suisse is one of the most prestigious stage races in the calendar. It belongs to the UCI World Tour and for many riders it is the final test prior Tour de France. That’s why we can expect that the level of racing will be extremely high. We had a chance to take part in this event last year and we are very proud that we will be able to race in Switzerland also this season – Piotr Wadecki, sport director said.
This year’s edition consists of 9 stages (1320km in total). It will start and end with a time trial. The prologue in Risch-Rotkreuz will be 5km long and on the last day of racing the riders will cover the distance of 38,4km. The organizers have planned few demanding, hilly stages. One of them stands out. Stage 5 is 237km long with the elevation of 4,1km. The finish is located in Austria, on the top of the 15km ascent which ends at the foot of the Rettenbach Glacier. The 12-14% slope will make a lot of the riders suffer.
The Polkowice-based team have participated in the Tour de Suisse also in 2014.The squad made their presence known and twice had their representative in the breakaway of the day (Mateusz Taciak, Jarosław Marycz). Besides off the riders who participated last year, three other CCC Sprandi Polkowice runners have raced in the TdS in their careers – Grega Bole, Stefan Schumacher and Sylwester Szmyd.
