Thanks to great team performance Łukasz Owsian defended his yellow jersey and won general classification of CCC Tour – Grody Piastowskie. He was joined on the podium by his teammate, Jan Tratnik who finished third.
Info: May 13th, Złotoryja – Jawor, 144,3km
Course: hilly (three cat. 1 climbs)
We had to control the entire stage and keep an eye on our biggest opponents. We managed to fulfill that plan and my teammates brought me to the final lap in a comfortable position. The last circuit saw multiple attacks, but we rode as a perfect unit and together we were catching anyone who was a threat for us. That being said it was not only my victory, but the entire team’s – Owsian talks about his success.
I’ve had few second places this year so I’m very happy to finally get a win. What makes it even more special is the fact, that this event was very important for us. It was held on our ground and was sponsored by CCC. We really wanted to showcase ourselves here and I’m glad that we were able to do exactly that.
CCC Sprandi Polkowice kept things under control throughout the entire day, letting only those who are not a GC threat, to go away. Adam Stachowiak (Voster) and Tobiasz Pawlak (Domin) broke clear after 10km of racing. They opened up 2:30 lead, but were brought back in on the final, 28-kilometer lap around Jawor, which included cat. 1 climb.
Despite some action uphill, none of the GC contenders were able to create a gap. Those moves split the field though and 25-man group emerged in the front. Both Łukasz Owsian and Jan Tratnik were part of that pack. They arrived to the finish line together, therefore that duo retained their first and third place overall. Josef Cerny (Elkov-Author) kept his 2nd.
Gasper Katrasnik (Adria Mobil) got the stage win in Jawor, ahead of Sylwester Janiszewski (Wibatech Merx 7R) and Artur Detko (Domin Sport).
Owsian took home not only the yellow jersey, but also white, copper and black, for sprints, points and – together with his teammates – teams classification.
