One of the top Polish cyclists, Paweł Cieślik, will ride for CCC Sprandi Polkowice in 2018 season (one-year contract).
He caught my attention last year during Tour de Suisse, when he was keeping up with the top climbers in the mountains and finished the race in 14th place overall. Thus, we are very pleased that he will join our team – says Piotr Wadecki, DS of CCC Sprandi Polkowice. – Paweł climbs exceptionally well, which he has proven not only during Tour de Suisse, but also Tour of Turkey and our national, Tour de Pologne, in which he claimed top 20 spot in GC. We believe that he will be able to present his talent in big races, in which our team will be competing.
31-year old Cieślik has spent 2017 season with Elkov – Author Cycling Team, having finished 8th overall in Tour of Slovenia, won by a Polish GC-specialist, Rafał Majka. He was also nominated to compete in Tour de Pologne, as a member of Polish National Team and finished 13th on one of the stages.
His cycling resume also includes – outside of Tour de Suisse accomplishments – 3rd place on a “queen stage” of Tour of Turkey and 19th place overall in Tour de Pologne.
Even though climbing is his specialty, he also performs very well in undulating terrain. He took 2nd in GC of Race of Solidarity and the Olympians, Tour of Małopolska, East Bohemia Tour and Okolo Jiznich Cech, which all feature up-and-down course.
Signing with CCC Sprandi Polkowice means for me coming back to second division – Paweł Cieślik explains. – Despite many obstacles this year, I did my best to get ready for the season and show myself. To be honest, I was really hoping to join Polkowice-based squad.
It is a team with very rich race program and gives me the opportunity to compete at the highest level. It also provides great environment for riders, which enables them to prepare for the season the right way.
CCC Sprandi Polkowice gives me also a chance to show what I am capable of. I believe that I will be a good addition and I will do everything in my power to prove my value.
