Leszek Pluciński was 57th in stage 5 of Colombia Oro y Paz, which featured uphill finish in Salento.
Info: Stage 5, February 10th, Pereira – Salento, 163,7km
Course: mountain top finish (2,9km, avg. 7,2%, max. 34,2%)
Stage five was the second one that was held in Colombian mountains and again it was the GC favorites who played the main roles in that spectacle. 11-man breakaway was never a threat for them and the peloton, and it was all decided on the final uphill stretch in Salento.
The climb was quite short – only 3km – but extremely steep. This is where Colombian riders are at their best, as they dominated the stage with 6 home riders taking top 6 spots.
Rigoberto Uran (Team EF Education First-Drapac p/b Cannondale) took the win, besting Nairo Quintana (Movistar) and Egan Bernal (Team Sky) in the uphill battle.
„Riders in orange” will not have great memories from that stage, as team’s top finisher, Leszek Pluciński was 57th.
