Both Jonas Koch and Jan Tratnik finished in the top 25 on stage 1a of Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali.

Course: undulating, 3 finishing circuits with one hill
The race kicked off with a 3-man breakaway going clear early, in the first semi-stage. Lawson Craddock (EF Education First Team), Pascal Eenkhoorn (Team Lotto NL Jumbo) and Emil Dima (MS Tina – Focus) opened up a 3:30 lead.
Peloton didn’t react soon enough and the escape held on to the finish. They didn’t arrive together though, as Dima was dropped.
In a duel for a stage win and overall lead, Eenkhoorn was the fastest, beating Craddock. Davide Ballerini (Androni – Sidermec – Bottecchia) won the bunch sprint to take 3rd place.
Jonas Koch and Jan Tratnik were team’s top finisher, coming in in 20th and 21st place respectively.
Stage 1b, team time trial, will take place in the afternoon. CCC Sprandi Polkowice starts at 15:42.
