Czech Cycling Tour: “Orange squad” third in TTT

CCC Sprandi Polkowice kicked off Czech Cycling Tour with 3rd place in team time trial.

Info: 10th of August, Unicov – Unicov, 18,6km (TTT)

Course: flat

How it unfolded

The „orange squad” did a good job pacing themselves, as they clocked 4th best time at first and only check point. They picked up the speed in the second half of the course and the team which included Jan Tratnik, Felix Grossschartner, Jan Hirt, Michal Schlegel, Frantisek Sisr, Piotr Brożyna and Łukasz Owsian covered 18,6 kilometers in 20:38. It was third fastest run of the day, only behind Elkov-Author and Bora-Hansgrohe.

We lost only 6 seconds to the winners and 3 seconds to the runner-ups. All the riders put in great effort and rode as planned. Jan Hirt, who is not known for his TT skills, was the only one who sat on teammates’ wheels. Everyone else pulled really hard – Tomasz Brożyna, team’s DS explained.

We finished the stage all together, so everyone was given the same time. Thus, we are in good position coming into next stages. We have a strong, balanced lineup here and next days will show who will be our definite GC leader for this race. We will talk with the riders about their form and sensations during TTT, to choose the right strategy for upcoming days. Stage 3 will be the most important one, as it should select main favorites for overall.
