Stage 2 of Czech Cycling Tour was won by Sacha Modolo (Lampre Merida). Since CCC Sprandi Polkowice is competing in the race with no sprinter on the roster, the team’s top finisher was Victor de la Parte, who took 42nd.
The stage was 177 kilometers long and took the riders from Olomouc to Unicov. It featured some climbing, but it was done earlier in the race and the final 50 kilometers were all flat. Six men made the breakaway of the day, but none of CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders were let go. The escape included Alessandro Malaguti (Unieuro-Wilier), Philipp Walsleben (Beobank-Corendon), Sven Van Luijk (Parkhotel Valkenburg), Rémi Cavagna (Klein Constantia), Adam Stachowiak (Verva ActiveJet) and Artem Ovechkin (Gazprom-Rusvelo).
They were kept on a 3-4-minute „leash” and the sprinters’ teams made sure to catch them before the finish.
The peloton did exactly that and the stage was decided in a bunch sprint. Sacha Modolo (Lampre Merida) powered to victory, edging out Wouter Wippert (Cannondale-Drapac), who took over the overall lead. Matteo Malucelli (Unieuro Wilier) finished 3rd.
Victor de la Parte was the fastest from the sprinter-less CCC Sprandi Polkowice roster, taking 42nd place. He remained high in the GC standings.
