Czech Tour: Pluciński 4th in GC before final stage

Leszek Pluciński moved to 4th overall after a solid performance on the queen stage of Czech Cycling Tour.

Info: August 11h, Mohelnice – Šternberk, 178km

Course: hilly (8 KOMs)

First 40km of racing were very lively, but eventually a 16-man breakaway went clear. It included Patryk Stosz and together with his fellow escapees he gained 2:30 on the peloton, led by GC leader’s squad, Felbermayr – Simplon Wels.

Due to mountainous terrain and frequent climbs, the intensity of effort was not getting lower and because of that the groups got shattered.

Escape with Stosz was brought back in on first of finishing circuits. It was quite undulating, so the main field was reduced there to just 15 riders. Leszek Pluciński survived that selection and came to the line in 13th place, 11 seconds behind the winner, Michael Kukrle. Thanks to his performance, he moved up to 4th overall (+ 1:25). Riccardo Zoidl retained the lead.
