Czech Tour: Stępniak 8th on the stage 2

Grzegorz Stepniak was the 4th fastest men in the peleton, that arrived after the 4 men breakaway in the stage 2 of Czech Cycling Tour. The stage was won by Martin Mortensen (Cult Energy Vital Water).

The breakaway was formed early into the stage. Nicolas Baldo (Team Vorarlberg), Maros Kovác (Dukla Trencin Trek), Martin Mortensen (Cult Energy Vital Water) and Ike Groen (Cyclingteam de Rijke) gained almost 12 minute advantage which is a lot in a race that is only 157 kilometer long. The peleton lead mostly by BDC MarcPol and Polish National Team with 6 CCC Polsat Polkowice riders, started to chase, but it was too late to catch the escapees.

The small group arrived to the finish with 4 minute lead. Martin Mortensen outsprinted his breakaway compatriots Marosa Kováca and Nicolasa Baldo and claimed the win. Groen who was forth became the new leader of the race.

Grzegorz Stepniak finished in 4th place in the main group which gave him 8th place in the stage classification.
