The cyclist of CCC Polsat Polkowice, Andre Schulze, became the leader of the prologue of the 54th race Around Mazowsze. He defeated his compatriot, the German Rudiger Selig from the team of Jenatec-Cycling and Marcin Sapa (BDC Team).
During the prologue, a race in a form of an individual time trial, the cyclists had a short, 2.5 km distance to ride at the location of the Horse Racing Track in Służewiec. At the starting line of the race there were over 100 cyclists from all Polish professional teams, as well as cyclists from Germany, Slovakia, Belarus, Holland and Romania.
At first, Wojciech Ziółkowski (BDC Team) did one of the best times: 3:03. 1 second behind him was the favourite Łukasz Bodnar (CCC Polsat Polkowice).
The time for the ride below 3 minutes was achieved by the German cyclist from the team of Jenatec Cycling, Rudiger Selig, who held the leading for a long time.
Eventually, the best to ride the time trial was Andre Schulze, with the time: 2:58; he overtook his compatriot Rudiger Selig by tenths of a second. The third place was taken by Marcin Sapa from BDC Team.
By winning during the prologue Andre Schulze became the first leader of the race.
Tomorrow the first stage of the race, that will lead along the roads around Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, and its distance is almost 200 kilometres.
