Dubai Tour: Paterski in the breakaway of the day, Bole 7th in GC

The last stage of Dubai Tour ended with a super fast bunch sprint and it saw three CCC Sprandi Polkowice finish in Top25. Maciej Paterski was riding in the breakaway of the day and Grega Bole completed the race in Top 10 overall.

-It was a short stage, so basically we went full gas from the start all the way to the finish. Such a high pace made me suffer in the end but I tried to stay in the break as long as possible –Maciej Paterski said.

-Yesterday I felt good on the hardest stage of the race, but flat tire in the final eliminated me from battling for top places. In general I can be satisfied with my performance in Dubai Tour. We had the opportunity to race in a good weather, among the best teams in the world and at the very high level. It will beneficial for us in the upcoming races – he added.

Maciej Paterski launched an attack few kilometers after the start. He joined Daniel Oss (BMC Racing Team), Francisco Mancebo (Skydive Dubai Pro Cycling Team), Marco Canola (UnitedHealthcare), Manuele Boaro (Tinkoff – Saxo). Their maximum advantage reached 3:47. Given the short distance of the stage (only 123km) and the strength and experience of the escapees the peleton couldn’t let them go away to far.

The Paterski’s group was reeled in only 7km from the finish and sprinters’ teams took over. CCC Sprandi Polkowice moved up to the front and “sprinters in orange” sat on the wheel of the big favorite Mark Cavendish.

The final kilometer was extremely fast and Etixx-Quick Step set up his leader for the final sprint. They put him in a good position and helped the Brit took the stage win. Grega Bole finished 15th, Christian Delle Stelle was 19th and Grzegorz Stępniak 22nd. Bole ended the race in 7th overall. Before the stage he was sitting in 6th but was surpassed by Canola, who grabbed few bonus seconds while riding in the breakaway.
