Frantisek Sisr and Paweł Franczak rode attentively and ambitiously in Belgian 1.HC race, Driedaagse De Panne-Koksijde. The latter finished in 17th place.
Info: March 21st, Brugge – De Panne, 202,43km
Course: undulating, cobbles, short and steep climbs typical for Belgium
The “orange squad” took on the Belgian event with just 5-man lineup, due to participation also in Coppi e Bartali which starts tomorrow, and Le Tour de Langkawi which has been underway for few days.
With such a short roster, CCC Sprandi Polkowice wasn’t able to send one of their guys into the breakaway of the day, which consisted of 6 people. They established around 7-minute gap before the bunch started the chase.
On the two, 25,4-kilometer finishing circuits, the already reduced peloton would often split in the cross winds. Frantisek Sisr and Paweł Franczak, who represented the orange colors in the bunch, were riding very attentively and with 8km to go, when the field broke on a long stretch, they made the cut. Unfortunately the two groups merged again, with 4,5km remaining, when last escapees got caught.
In the very finale Sisr tried to lead Franczak out, but the legs didn’t allow the sprinter of CCC Sprandi Polkowice to fight for top places. He finished in 17th, while Elia Viviani (Quick Step Floors) sprinted to victory, ahead of Pascal Ackermann (Bora – hansgrohe) and Jasper Philipsen (Hagens Berman Axeon).
