Marek Rutkiewicz (CCC Polsat Polkowice) confirmed his great form winning on Sunday afternoon the second stage of the Szlakiem Grodów Piastowskich race – the individual time trial – and he became a new leader of the race.
The individual time trial was held on a relatively flat course, 32 km long, that led from Polkowice to Polkowice with turning back point in Tarnówek.
Marek Rutkiewicz, who entered the route of the trial as the last but one, achieved an excellent result by riding the distance within 37 min. 55 seconds. He covered the distance with the mean speed of 48 km/h. His most dangerous rival in the classification – the winner of stage one Marko Krump from Slovenia, starting as the last one among the starters, went very poorly, scoring the time two minutes behind the best ones.
The before-noon time trial was a display of skills of CCC Polkowice riders, since the second place in the stage was taken by Tomasz Kiendyś, only four seconds after Rutkiewicz, the fourth rider was Mateusz Taciak, the sixth one the Bulgarian Nikolay Michaylov, the champion of his country in individual time trial, and Piotr Gawroński was seventh. The riders in orange clothing were separated only by Germans – Stefan Schumacher (Christina Watches) took the third place, and Niklas Arndt (Team LKT) was fifth.

Marek Rutkiewicz is the holder of the jersey of the leader in the points classification and the team of CCC Polsat Polkowice is leading the teams classification of the race.
The points for the stage win in today’s time trial and the points for the second place during stage 1 of the race allowed Marek Rutkiewicz reinforce his position of (as for now virtual one) the leader of BGŻ ProLiga.
The afternoon – third stage, with the starting and finishing line in Polkowice is less than 80 kilometres long and is relatively flat. After the tiring time trial it is certainly the sprint cyclists that will fight for the stage win, and the favourites of the classification will ride carefully, trying not to allow any dangerous break-aways.
