The Croatian stage race Istrian Spring Trophy has kicked off with a 2km prologue. 6 riders from Polkowice-based team is competing in this event.
Exactly 200 riders rolled off the start ramp in the very short individual time trial, which was held in the seaside town of Umag. The first rider from our team to start was Patryk Stosz and the last one Bartłomiej Matysiak.
Due to flat course and short distance pure sprinters were among the biggest favorites. The one who turned out to be the strongest was Lukas Postlberger (Tirol Cycling Team), who covered 2 kilometers in 2 minutes and 9 seconds. He bested his compatriot, Michael Taferner (WSA-Greenlife) by tens of seconds and by one seconds another Austrian, Felixa Großschartnera (Team Felbermayr – Simplon Wels).
Eryk Latoń was the fastest Polish rider in the ITT. He took 54th 5 seconds behind the winner. The rest of the riders racing under the wings of Tomasz Brożyna, lost less than 12 seconds.
Tomorrow’s stage from Porec to Labin is 158km long and ends with an uphill finish.
