Dariusz Baranowski (BDC Team) escaping for the most part of the race, became the winner of the 2nd Memorial of Stanisław Królak. The second place went to Sylwester Janiszewski (CCC Polsat Polkowice).
The race was held in Wołomin as a criterium awarding points in individual classification. Every tenth lap was awarded 5, 3, 2 points, respectively for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd places, the remaining even laps – 1 point for the first place. The winner of the race was to be the racer who would win the biggest number of points in the whole race and complete the competitions.
Due to the bad weather conditions the organizers shortened the distance from the planned 50 to 40 laps. Each was about 1.2 km long.
From the very beginning the cyclists of BDC Team were very active. Dariusz Baranowski, Robert Radosz, and also Wojciech Ziółkowski took turns to break away. They were chased mainly by the cyclists of CCC Polsat Polkowice of whom there were only two: Sylwester Janiszewski and Kamil Zieliński, and of Legia-Felt.
Eventually, the biggest number of points was collected by Dariusz Baranowski. The popular ‘Ryba’ defeated Sylwester Janiszewski (CCC Polsat Polkowice) and Jakub Komar (Legia-Felt).
The perfect organization of the race must be mentioned. Grzegorz Wajs, a former professional cyclist, created an event which could compared to Tour de Pologne as far as organization is concerned. It’s a pity that the weather was not better and there were not many cyclists at the starting line.
