Jaroslaw Marycz was very close from winning the Skoda Cyklo Gdynia on the Kosciuszko Squere. In the final showdown he was defeated by Michal Podlaski (ActiveJet). Marek Rutkiewicz took the last podium spot and finished 3rd.
The 165-kilometer course ran through hilly and demanding terrain around Kashubia. Start and the finish were placed in the same spot – square Kosciuszko in Gdynia.
On the initial, short lap first intermediate sprint was located. This is also were first breakaway attempts occurred. CCC Polsat Polkowice riders were involved in most of them. One of the most active people in that part of the race were Lukasz Owsian and Jaroslaw Marycz, who won the prime.
After leaving Gdynia and entering bigger lap in Kashubia, 5 man group was formed in the front with CCC Polsat Polkowice and ActiveJet riders: Jaroslaw Marycz, Lukasz Owsian, Marek Rutkiewicz, Michał Podlaski and Emanuel Piaskowy (ActiveJet Team). They quickly built up 5 minute lead.
The closer the breakaway was to the finish the more certain it was that they will arrive to the line ahead of the bunch. With few kilometers to go one attack after another was launched. Rutkiewicz and Marycz tried to break clear by the opponents were closing every gap.
Eventually Marycz managed to take off but Michal Podlaski joined him on the ride for the victory. ActiveJet rider outsprinted Marycz in the one-on-one sprint and took the win. Marek Rutkiewicz finished in 3rd, and Lukasz Owsian was right behind him, in 4th.
