Jakub Kaczmarek topped off Tour of Norway with a nice, 13th place sprint on the last stage.
Info: Stage 5, May 21st, Moss – Oslo, 153km
Final stage saw 5-man breakaway of the day, going clear after a hectic and lively start. Marius Blålid (Team FixIT.no), Maxime Daniel (Fortuneo – Vital Concept), Fridtjof Røinås (Team Sparebanken Sør), Tom Van Asbroeck (Cannondale-Drapac Pro Cycling Team) and Preben Van Hecke (Sport Vlaanderen – Baloise) established 3-minute lead.
Bunch accelerated drastically on the first, 11-kilometer circuit around Oslo and caught the escape with 27km remaining. High pace caused the group to split and was also a reason, why some top favorites crashed. Edvald Boasson Hagen (Dimension Data) and Dylan Groenewegen (Team LottoNL-Jumbo) were among those who went down, but thanks to nice gesture from the main group, which waited for Norwegian, he was able to get back.
Boasson Hagen joined the group and despite falling down earlier, sprinted to victory. He defeated Simon Gerrans (Scott-Orica) and Tosh Van der Sande (Lott-Soudal). Due to bonus seconds gained and 2-second gap at the line, Dimension Data rider secured the final victory in GC. Gerrans finished 2nd and previous leader, Pieter Weening 3rd.
Jakub Kaczmarek took 13th place on the stage and claimed 25th overall (1:29 back).
