Ronde van Zeeland Seaports was held under very hard weather conditions and was dominatem by Etixx-Quick Step. Most of the peloton was not able to finish the race and among those who didn’t arrive to the line were all of CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders.
Very young CCC Sprandi Polkowice lineup was standing at the start line of Ronde van Zeeland Seaports, with 4 U23 riders – Piotr Brożyna, Jakub Kaczmarek, Eryk Latoń and Patryk Stosz who replaced Christian Delle Stelle. The Italian was a late pick for the Sunday’s Milano-Sanremo.
The route was completely flat, with some part of the route going even under the sea level. The biggest obstacles were the cobblestone sections and the rainy weather.
The competition was very lively from the very beginning. Fast pace and lots of attacks marked first half of racing. Few groups were formed in the front and with 70 km to go the three riders from Etixx-Quick Step, Niki Terpstra, Iljo Keisse and Łukasz Wiśniowski took off, leaving everyone behind.
They were extending their advantage basically throughout the rest of the race. They went 1-2-3 on the line, with Keisse taking 1st, Terpstra 2nd and Wiśniowski 3rd. Due to bad weather only 20 riders completed the race and CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders were not among them.
