Amaro Antunes was part of the breakaway, while Jonas Koch finished 10th in Italian one-day race, Coppa Bernocchi.
Info: September 16th, Legnano – Legnano, 194,7km
Amaro Antunes used this race as an opportunity to get back to racing rhythm after his calf injury and pulled away early on, to get into the breakaway of the day. He went clear alongside three other riders and together they gained 5 minutes on the bunch. It was not enough though to outpace the opponents.
Portuguese was caught with 38km to go by counterattacking riders and new, 8-man leading group was formed. Later it was reduced to four, but they also got reeled in. It happened with 3km to go, when CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders were pacing the pack. They set up their train to lead out Jonas Koch and kept that position at the front until final kilometer, when other teams got involved. At the end of the day German sprinted to 10th place.
Last year’s winner, Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain Merida) was first across the line again.
