The Polish 1.2 UCI event, Korona Kocich Gór, didn’t play out well for the CCC Sprandi Polkowice. The “orange squad” had only one representative in the decisive 24-man break – Michał Paluta. He finished in 18th place.
For a long time after the start, nobody was able to break clear. Finally, after over 60 kilometers, a big, 24-man group managed to create a gap. One of the riders, pedaling in the front was Michał Paluta.
CCC Sprandi Polkowice was not satisfied with the composition of the escape, since other teams had more than one cyclist in the lead. The “orange squad” was pacing the bunch, trying to reduce almost 3-minute advantage. The breakaway was shrinking with every kilometer, since some runners were getting dropped and other decided to launch an attack. The situation at the head of the race was changing constantly, as the peloton was unable to close the gap.
Eventually four riders broke away in the final 10 kilometers and the race was decided in the sprint from that group. Frantisek Sisr (Dukla Praha) took the win, while Maros Kovac (Kemo Dukla Trencin) was 2nd and Kamil Zieliński (Domin Sport) 3rd. Emanuel Piaskowy (Cycling Academy) missed out on the podium.
Michał Paluta arrived at the finish in 18th place, 1:36 behind the winner and was the top finisher of the team.
