Kurek-Kiendyś with silver, Stosz-Paluta with gold in Polish Championship Duo TT

CCC Sprandi Polkowice claimed four sets of medals in the Polish Championship in Duo Time Trial, which were held in Opatówek.

Four “orange duos” took part in the 30-kilometer time trial. Defending champions Adrian Kurek and Tomasz Kiendyś and last year’s bronze medalists Mateusz Taciak and Jarosław Marycz stood at the starting ramp with big ambitions. Also medalists in individual time trial in U23 category, Michał Paluta and Patryk Stosz paired up for the TT. Eryk Latoń together with Piotr Brożyna was the second U23 duo, which represented CCC Sprandi Polkowice, that made their presence in Opatówek.

Kurek-Kiendyś put on good performance and recorded 36:39, but Paweł Bernas and Kamil Gradek covered the distance 29 seconds faster and took the win. Mateusz Taciak and Jarosław Marycz rode to third place, 49 seconds off the pace.

We started with the mindset to win. After halfway point we were 17 seconds ahead of the ActiveJet and we continued to ride strong in the second part of the race. Unfortunately it was only enough to take second place. We claimed silver and bronze in elite category, but personally I am not fully satisfied. We beat our time by 32 seconds from last year, but it was still not fast enough. We want to congratulate the winners, but we also need to focus on the Sunday’s TTT – said Kurek afterwards.

CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders did a great job in the U23 category. Michał Paluta and Patryk Stosz came in only 16 seconds down to his teammates, bronze medalists. They took 4th overall, and won among the espoirs. Piotr Brożyna and Eryk Latoń set third best time in their category (6th overall). Two “orange duos” were divided on the podium by TKK Pacific Nestle Toruń riders – Paweł Złotowicz and Mikołaj Gutek.

I think we were at similar, good level with Patryk in terms of racing against the clock and we completed each other in this time trial. The course was quite easy. Before the turnaround we caught ActiveJet riders, and they stayed behind us until the finish. Despite jet lag after world championship, where I felt strong, I was able to go fast today. I am happy about that victory and I hope we will be able to repeat that performance in the team time trial – Michał Paluta explained.
