Adrian Kurek was the top finisher of CCC Sprandi Polkowice in the Belgian one-day event – Primus Classic Impanis – Van Petegem.
Alessandro De Marchi, Brian van Goethem, Julien Morice i David De la Cruz were the escapee’s of the day in the 200-kilometer race. With 50 kilometers to go their advantage was at 2 minutes and one of the teams that contributed to the chase and didn’t let the breakaway gain too much space, was CCC Sprandi Polkowice. For a long time they were setting the pace, alongside LottoNT.
With 33 kilometers remaining, the escape began to fall apart and De Marchi made a solo move. He didn’t stay in the front for too long, since he was caught by the bunch and the race started all over. New attacks began right away and after one of the attempts another 4-man break was established. It included Gianluca Brambilla, Floris Gerts, Frederik Veuchelen and Pim Ligthart.
That attack was also unsuccessful and the group was reeled back in 6 kilometers from the line. On the final 2 kilometers Sean de Bie (Lotto-Soudal), Dimitri Claeys (Verandas Willems Cycling Team) and Floris Gerts (BMC Racing Team) tried their chances and this time the peloton was not able to catch the attackers. Sprinters were very close, but de Bie managed to hold on and claimed the win. Claeys finished 2nd and Gerts was 3rd.
„Riders in Orange” didn’t take part in the decisive sprint and arrived at the line 3 minutes behind the winner. Adrian Kurek took 49th and was the highest ranked CCC Sprandi Polkowice rider.
