After Ronde van Vlaanderen CCC Sprandi Polkowice will stay in Flanders to take on another race held in that region, Scheldeprijs (1.HC).
This 208-kilometer event goes from Antwerp to Schoten. Because of the flat route, it often comes down to a battle of sprinters. In the previous years the race has been won by Alexander Kristoff, Marcel Kittel, Marc Cavendish, Tyler Farrar and Alessandro Petacchi. There are 7 cobblestone sectors on the menu (varying between 1300 and 3000 metres), but as history has shown, they are not crucial for the race outcome and rarely shatter the field. The course consists of one 140-kilometer circuit which is followed by three laps, 19 kilometers each.
CCC Sprand Polkowice will be led by Simone Ponzi. The Italian has already proven that he is capable of finishing near the podium. He was 4th on the penultimate stage of Tour of Oman and has plenty of cobblestone races under his belt this season.
Despite the fact, that Maciej Paterski has just returned to racing after a knee injury, he is always among those who can either deliver good result, or put in aggressive performance. This time the place at the line is not as important, as getting back the race rhythm and finding solid form for the upcoming Amstel Gold Race.
The rest of the squad will focus on helping the team leader and attempting to get into the break.
Lineup of CCC Sprandi Polkowice for Scheldeprijs (6.04, 1.HC): Simone Ponzi, Maciej Paterski, Adrian Kurek, Jarosław Marycz, Tomasz Kiendyś, Nikolay Mihaylov, Eryk Latoń, Bartłomiej Matysiak.
