Two 8-man rosters will take part in the upcoming four one-day events, in Belgium, Netherlands and Italy. For some riders it will be the last test before the first main goal of the season, Milan-Sanremo.
GP Nobili Rubinetterie will be the final exam prior La Primavera. It will be held nearby Milano and just like the M-SR there will be two climbs in the final part of the route. It means that two scenarios can be considered – sprint from the bunch or a successful, late attack on the ascent. In the first one Grega Bole should be able to fight for top places and in the latter Maciej Paterski, Sylwester Szmyd or Davide Rebellin could be the ones to accelerate – Piotr Wadecki, sport director said.
The race is 187,5km long. Its course is relatively flat and there are two obstacles in the end – climb to Massino Visconti which will be tackled twice.
Current CCC Sprandi Polkowice riders have good memories from GP Nobili Rubinetterie. Grega Bole won the event in 2009. Two years later Rebellin took third, and last season, Christian Delle Stelle finished 2nd. He lost by a half-inch to Simone Ponzi in a bunch sprint. Among those three, only Delle Stelle will not be competing this year.
The 26-year old Italian will be racing in the Benelux country events – Belgian Nokere Koerse (18.03), Handzame Classic (20.03) and Dutch Ronde Van Zeeland Seaports (21.03). They are all typical races for that part of Europe – with short climbs, cobblestone sections and narrow roads. In the previous years the terrain and the weather conditions didn’t make too much selection and the whole bunch would usually arrive to the finish. That’s why the roster is based on sprinters such as Delle Stelle or Grzegorz Stępniak.
In the Ronde Van Zeeland Seaports we want to give a chance to our youngest riders, from U23 category. They will be able to compete against the top level opponents which should be beneficial for their development – Piotr Wadecki added.
